Big Apple, Big Beaches, Big Airplanes, Big Distances

The past week was full of lovely friends and family, and not so lovely bus rides all over Vermont, NYC, and New Jersey. First stop, after riding a chilly Megabus from Vermont, I arrived in NYC on Saturday to spend a few days with some lovely people:

Sarah, Sam and I spent some quality time making nommy dinners, putzing around the city, and going to a Shakespeare in the Park play, "Into the Woods" (in a huge outdoor ampitheater!!) Here they are looking pretty stoked after we made peanut noodles with zucchini.

Melcam, Casey, Annie, and I had a delicious brunch at a restaurant called Fiddlesticks before heading to Washington Square Park to listen to the amazing pianist hammer away some Chopin and Yann Tiersen on his grand piano!

Sarah and I took quite the stroll on the High Line down in the Meatpacking District, where we purchased homemade popsicles and marveled at the beauty of the city from a higher point of view.

 I love NYC!

After four days of hanging around in the Big Apple, it was time to take another bus down to Ocean City, where Dad, Ellen, and Isaac rented a beach house for the week. Here was the view of Atlantic City from the Boardwalk, which is a few cities north of Ocean City:
We spent some quality time bathing in the sun, boogie boarding in the ocean, visiting with family, and strolling on the boardwalk.
The trip was much too short, as two days after arriving I was already on a bus back up to NYC. I spent my last night eating pizza and drinking beer with Samwise and Nick, trying to pull an all nighter to get on the subway at 4am to head to JFK for the second leg of the trip...

Next stop: San Francisco!!

Flying over Eastern California/Nevada really gives you an idea of how diverse and vast a country we have here..

The first day in San Francisco has been amazing, as always! Elliott and I trekked through the Mission before bathing in the sun at the "beach," which is more commonly known as Dolores Park
Ell and his parasol.

Elliott also found a keeper of an outfit, which he will be frolicking through the desert in at Burning Man in a week's time.

Let's see what other surprises San Francisco has in store in the week to come... Very excited!
